About 2 weeks ago I got a knock on my leg playing football leaving a lot of bruising and a golf ball sized hematoma to the left of right calf. 2 weeks on and the brusing is all but gone but the swelling is still there(no change as far as I can tell.) I can walk around on it fine now, but when I press the lumpy swelling it causes pain down my shin bone and makes me feel like there is something in my shin(like there's a metal plate running down it is the best way I can describe the sensation.) There is also already a numb to the touch feeling in part of my shin to start with. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

my cea started at 8.3, then droped to 7.3 after 1 week on july 4, 2010. My primary doctor did the cea test when I had pain in my left leg for 10 days at the begining of july. my ca 125 was at 30 (Lab range 0-21). Since then, I have had cat scans from the brain down to the abdomin. Then EGD, then overian ultrasound, memmogram, colonscopy, all were clear. no symtopms as of today Sept 1st, 2010. cat scan, showed no other benign diseases or inflamations. why then my cea is high, and droped back from 8.2 to 7.3 in one week. I am so confused and very scared. I am a non smoker or drinker. please help and ideas what else it could be?

Hi. 35 y/o male. Overweight but otherwise healthy. Very good looking - attempt at humor... Have swelling of left occipital node. Over the summer, I had what I thought was a sunburn on the back of my neck. I kept slathering on the spf, but the back of my neck was still all red and irritated. I would itch and dig at it all through the night in and out of sleep. I noticed a lump which turned out to be the occipital node (at least that is the location I have determined). My gp said it was ok, but looked at it quizzically. I had a pimple directly over the node - white head. It has been 5 weeks. I think it has gotten smaller, but I'm not certain. It hasn't grown. I read that alcohol induced pain is a symptom of cancer. Sometimes that 'area' gets irritated by drinking. But sometimes it doesn't. I am generally tense, and wonder if it is just my tense neck muscles reacting to the alcohol. And sometimes it is irritated even in the absence of liqour. So I don't know. The node doesn't hurt, but about an inch above it does - right at the base of the skull. Cancer? Anxiety? Thoughts? I guess I would say it feels a bit firm - not squishy. is moveable. under 1/2 inch in diameter Thanks and God Bless.

We saw my daughers Dr. today. She wanted to cover her blood test with us. Her Immunoglobulin E is double the high point and her IgG Titer is high, 1:128. She told us that my daughter is suffering from a non contagious infectious disease. Some of the information that I have found refers to the fact that it could be cancer, how do I know? The other test that was his was her MCV and MCH. MCV was 94 and MCH was 32. I realize that it is not extremely high, but she indicated that this meant the she has large red blood cells. Is this also an indicator of some type of cancer?

Is recovery even possible considering my circumstances??

hi i really hope u can help me as im a bit afraid and confused. about a year ago i had my son and have never been the same since. a couple of months after his birth i developed a urine infection which had no symptoms apart from smelly urine. doctors tried twice to fix this but no antibiotic worked so im left living with severely smelly urine. at the same time my lymph glands swell in my neck, behind ears and badly in groin area + underarms. thats when abdominal pain began which is severe except when im on my period when i actually feel no pain just a heavier longer cycle. i have days when i cant walk upstairs well as my thigh muscles hurt so bad but when im not that sore my thighs are just so sore u cant put any pressure on them at all or i feel pain. i have had periods of severe night sweats but this isnt too regular. i have been down the doctors and he found i had lost a stone and a half in 6 months. im now just under 7 stone, yet ok ven though my appetite is down. i cant maintain any weight. the only other thing i can note is my arms hurt all the time too like with the flu but no flu! and sexual intercourse is so sore as deep penetration is way too painful! im falling apart!! my doctor wont take my concern serious so just want some dvice on if this sounds like cancer

Dear doctor, My father (age 58, non-smoker, previous health condition excellent) was diagnosed with metastatic malignant melanoma on the lungs and pleura a month ago (main diagnosis: MM - metastaticum pleurae; MM tegmenti thoracis aa XV; PH diagnosis: MM cutis Clark II, Breslow 1 mm). Thoracic CT showed a circular soft tissue infiltrative mass 5 cm in diamater in the left hilus area, encircling and infiltrating the main branch of the pulmonary artery and its branches. Upper abdomen ultrasound showed changes on the liver and spleen (probably tumors), with suspected metastasis on the bones. Slightly over two months have passed since the appearance of the first symptoms (cough, tiredness), and my father's health has deteriorated significantly (cough leading to insomnia, loss of appetite, nausea, weight loss and muscular weakness, immobility, pain in arms, legs and back when changing position). Since his general condition has deteriorated, his oncologist has prescribed as palliative therapy Tamoxifen (20 mg), Megostat - Megestrolum (20 ml) and iron ampules to recover and strengthen his organism in preparation for the main therapy. Two days ago, swelling appeared on his arm and leg joints, along with a large swelling in the stomach area (significant increase in stomach size, as in obesity). I would be grateful if you could answer the following questions: 1) Could this swelling be a result of Tamoxifen (Tamoplex) or Megestrolum? Why has Tamoxifen been prescribed in a case of malignant melanoma, when its original use is in breast cancer treatment? 2) What therapy would you suggest in the treatment of malignant melanoma and is my father even in a condition to receive any kind of therapy in this weakened and nearly immobile state? His last lab results from a week ago showed the following: sedimentation 23, leukocytes 11.1, erythrocytes 5.06, hemoglobin 139, hematocrit 0.431, thrombocytes 644, glucose 7.3, urea 5.3, creatinine 75, AST/ALT 16/36, GGT 94, LDH 262, Fe 3,4, Ca 2,8. Thank you very much for your kind answers!

I am wondering if I should be getting a biospy and what are the chances that I have cancer? Here are my symptoms... Swollen lymph nodes in groin ( least 5 that I can feel) , armpits ( under both armpits) and neck (above my collar bone on left side- this one is perfectly round). They all range in size from 1/4 to 1/2 inch each. I have three under my right armpit and they seem to be connected. I first noticed one swollen lymph node in my groin last January but now they seem to be everywhere. They don't seem to grow very fast. None have disappeared. Other issues are- hair loss, fatigue, diaherra, nausea, headaches Past medical- I've had a lot for a 35 yr old white female weigh about 120- 125 lbs - hear is the short list, cervical cancer @ 30 yrs old, brain aneurysm clipped @ 32 yrs old , infertility 30-32yrs old, had high blood pressure for years which in the last couple of months went back to normal, migraines, asthma, GERD, 2 small right breast lumps ( came back not cancer) PCP did CBC, liver function & sexually transmitted disease and everything came back normal for the exception of a low red blood count.
My girlfriend, Bifen, had her blood checked in April 2010. Everything looked fine except of the high level of S-aTPO. She visited the endocrinologist a month later for some ultrasound testing and hand-testing (don't know better expression) with results: in right bottom pole seems to be some non-homogenous without evident "?nodule?" [trying to translate from a different language] and said Bifen should go for another check in 6 months. However, Bifen started to feel some symptoms of tiredness, mood swings, sensitive skins, shallower breath so she went to the general doctor for another blood test just 4 months later (Aug 2010) See both results below): apr 2010 aug 2010 Range Ca-ioniz 1.11 n/a mmol/l	(1.1 - 1.3) akt.pH 7.44	n/a (7.35 - 7.45) S-CRP Back pain and stiffness: She has been having back problem (spine and joints) for the last four years (her hrs of using computer clearly contributes to that). She is not on any regular medication for that, but sitting in front of computer for a longer time and carrying stuff such as a 2kg handbag for half a mile could easily cause spasm and back pain. the obvious thing is that movement and sports help making her back feel better, though running can sometimes give problems to her knees. In the past 1 year, the upper back and shoulder has become a problem. Stiffness in that area, in the wrists, and fingers are becoming some common symptoms that she experiences. Almost every other night she needs to apply some massage cream on either upper back, shoulder, lower back, or knees. ==> Prolonging Infection (She has ear pit): she has also been experiencing some prolonging infection in her ears for some unexplainable reasons. Despite 2 doses of the antibiotic cream, the symptom didn't seem to go away for over 6 months. Through some change in the way she keeps the cotton buds away from the damp bathroom, the problem seems to be almost gone (last 1-2 months). ==> Other symptoms: She is usually a very energetic and lively person. But obviously she has been feeling more tired lately and feeling like she needs to take a nap when the temperature drops, or after meal. Some other obvious problems that have been bothering her: Swinging moods, depression, sensitive skin, sensitive to strange smell - especially smoke and chemical, shallower breath, gaining fat, sensitivity to temperature - specially cold. ==> Prescribed Drugs: Bifen's GP forwarded the blood results to Endocrinologist and the endocrinologist prescribed the following drug without seeing Bifen: All to be taken in the mornings 30 min. before meal: 1) First two weeks Euthyrox 50 micrograms 2) Week 3-4 Euthyrox 75 mg 3) Week 5-8 Euthyrox 100 mg Bifen should see the endocrinologist after that. My questions: 1. How do the blood test results look? Do they suggest a very serious condition? (we have no clue) 2. She took the second blood check (August), the same day that her menstruation started - could there be any impact on the levels of the highly "out-of-range" hormones? 3. 3 days before the blood test she went to a party and drank a bit more than usual - could this affect her results (actually after that party she started to feel worse). 4. Should endocrinologist do some additional testing before prescribing the drugs? If so, what? 5. It seems that her antibody is attacking her thyroid (the Antibody level is very high). since at this point there is no nodule found (4 months ago when she had the ultrasound made), is it possible that her imbalance diets and life-style has caused some internal inflammation, say as the results of food allergies (in the liver), or has resulted in some kind of protein deficiency; and somehow tells the body to send the Antibody to attack the thyroid? (i might not be clear here, but I have read some documents about this somewhere) 6. Has the fact that she hasn't been checked earlier caused some irreversible damage that could have been prevented? If so what? And, how could it be prevented? 7. Is the prescription appropriate? 8. Should she start taking the drugs immediately or should she wait? 9. Is it possible that the situation can reverse in the future or is she going to be dependent on the drug for the rest of her life? 10. Can the drugs negatively affect her liver (note, she has Hepatitis B)? 11. Could these drugs increase probability of ovary or breast cancer? Any side effects she may experience? And will the drugs contribute to a bone-loss issue in the future? 12. Any suggestion on proper lifestyle, Food and exercise would be helpful. Thanks a lot for your help
