Hello, I have a question regarding skin cancer. My mother has lots of warts all over her body (especially on her neck and chest) since she was little. The thing is, a few months ago, she noticed a sort of round brown spot on one of her warts. The spot went away but has now come back again. I'm a bit concerned whether this spot could be a sign of skin cancer. My mother is 44, has fair skin, freckles but dark hair. She feels fine and there has never been a history of skin cancer in her family. Thank you in advanced for answering my question.

Hello, I just had a series of MRI\'s of my Brian, Cervical and Thoracic spine. I had these MRI\'s yesterday (friday ) and when I looked at the Brain / Cervical images I noticed one that shows white masses. I am very worried about these. I\'m 38, have never smoked, don\'t drink and in fact have not had a drop of alcohol in years. I went to the doctors because I\'ve been having serious nerve type pain in my legs and hips, tingling / pins and needles / foot drop and paralysis in my 3 small toes ( can\'t move or bend them ) on my left foot along with extreme coldness in my left leg. This started about 6 wks ago. I\'ve also had significant memory issues that have increased over the years along with blurred vision and sporadic bladder issues. To rule out or in any connection, I also had a lumbar discectomy and laminectomy in Oct 08 so my doctors ordered these MRIs. I was hoping that someone could tell me if these white spots were something I should be concerned about. I\'m sure I\'ll hear from my doctor, i just was hoping to not have to wait thru the weekend. Here\'s a link to the MRI image in question I thank you so much for any advice. Rob http://www.flickr.com/photos/44222043@N06/4061686050/

Hello, I posted a question here some months ago and I am very happy and thankful for the answer I got. Anyway, I got another question. If you have a lymph node which change in size (sometimes small, sometimes a bit larger and harder) is this a sign that something is good or bad? Is it possible that I got these lymph nodes after I operate away several wisdom tooths? A specialist at ears, nose and throat have felt on them and said they where normal and nothing to worry about since my bloodcount was normal. Last question, if you have hodgkins lymphoma and a swollen lymph node is present, how long does it take~ before you feel ill, or atleast can feel that something is not right? Looking forward for the answers! /Swedish guy

I am a 30 year old female and I had a small amount of pain running under my jaw line and drifting downwards some 3 days ago. Since then, the pain has increased slightly it's not terribly unbearable and i can feel a hard lump about a marble size. I have been taking 600 mg of advil and it helps with the pain. I do not feel sick or anything. What do you think it could be? I don't have insurance so I am trying to get some insight if you think i should go anyways or I should wait it out a couple of days.

In April 2009 I had bloodwork done. My CA 19-9 level was 49, so a CT scan was ordered. CT came back completely clear aside from a 2cm cyst on my ovary. I had follow up bloodwork done October 209 (this month) and my CA 19-9 level is up to 56. My doctor ordered an MRI. What is he looking for?

How likely/possible is it that a patient presenting with acute hiv could be misdiagnosed as nodular sclerosing hodgkin's disease? Patient presented with multiple lymph node swelling in front of neck and in chest, fever, night sweats, pruritis, anorexia. HIV test (I believe ELISA) was negative at presentation. Pathology of lymph node biopsy showed mononuclear hodgkin's-type cells with what I believe was cd30+ staining. She was diagnosed as Nodular Sclerosis Hodgkin's (type 2) stage 3B. I'm asking on behalf of a friend with a somewhat risky sexual history, and I'm afraid she may be misdiagnosed after doing a bit of research on her disease.

Hi, my mom was diagnosed with appendix cancer (Appendiceal Carcinoma) 2 years ago, and I'm not sure if you know much about this rare type of cancer, but it is very agressive. Her type of tumors cannot be treated with radiation and b/c little is known about it, it is often treated the same as colon cancer. My mom was unable to qualify for the ONLY surgery that has been used to treat this cancer, b/c the surgeon said that there was too much cancer in her. About a month ago she was experiencing excruciating pain in her abdomen, and after a series of x-rays the doctors discovered that she had a blockage in her small intestine that was being caused by the cancer. B/c they cannot stop this tumor from wrapping itself around her intestines, they instead are draining her stomach fluids into a g-peg while also hooking her up to an iv so she can receive the proper nutrients directly into her bloodstream- nutrients she would normally get from food (but she cannot eat anymore). On top of this, her oncologist has just informed us that we cannot pursue anymore chemo b/c it will leave her worse off, and might kill her before the cancer does. So basically we have to watch our mom die. I checked out a lot of information on eastern remedies like herbs and vitamins, that can be given to her in liquid form (b/c she can still drink fluids), and I wanted to know if any of that sort of stuff would make much of a difference if her stomach fluids are just going to be drained anyways? The g-peg is located near the top of her stomach so SOME fluids are still going into her small intestine. Should we just give up, like the oncologists have, or do we still have some kind of an option that could help fight this cancer and possibly shrink her tumors?

There are no distant metastasis. should we go for surgery again for its resection?

I have what I thought was a wart near my groin but am worried it could be cancerous as it has increased in size and is an abnormal shape. Will be checking soon. I had an MRI recently though for my lower back problems in order to check on my lower discs. Would the cancer have shown up on that and been visible to the doctor? I just want to know for piece of mind. Or is it possible that because they were not looking for it it could still be there.

I have been ill for a few weeks. When I went to a walk-in, I was told most likely H1N1 or a bacterial infection, and put on antibiotics. Given my hx I was wondering if these possible conditions are more serious for me than for the average person? I was not checked very thoroughly at all and i do not feel good about this. Do I have a right to be concerned? thank you

I finished getting chemo & radiation treatments for cervical cancer in April. My doctors tell me that there are no signs of cancer and everything looks good. 3 weeks ago I got a fever with body and head ache. I was told that it was probably a virus. On friday I started getting abdominal cramps and thought it was gas. When I got home I realized I had a fever which went up and down over the next 24 hours. I feel better now bu my stomach still feels weird. Could this be associated with my cancer? Is my immune system weakened?

I finished getting treated for cervical cancer in April. 3 weeks ago I got a fever and was told that was probably a virus. On Friday I started getting lower abdominal cramps and thought it was probably gas. When I got home I took my temp and had a fever which went up and down over the next 24 hours. There was no nausea or diarrhea. Could this be related to my cancer? I am feeling better now but still have a weird feeling in my stomach.

20 years post chemotherapy for Rhabdomyosarcoma embryonic stage 1. On dactinomycin, vincristine, cytoxan, and adriamycin. Adriamycin total dose was 210mg or 300 mg per m2. routine echos since then have been basically normal with trivial valve leakage. I have read confliciting reports concerning DCM/heart failure from adriamycin. Some reports indicate a latency period of only days to months while some indicate one of decades. Also reports differ on age when chemo was given concerning latency (was 3-4 years old given in 17.5mg doses over a 15 month period) Question is are yearly echos indicated or not if negative thus far.

I\'m 19 years old and was recently diagnosed with testicular cancer. My case is the typical case for this type of cancer. But the last couple years I have been smoking marijuana and cigarettes quite regularly and I was wondering if there was a direct link between these two habits and my cancer. I know they both cause cancer but can it develop this quickly?

My sister-n-law had a punch biopsy monday, doctor got a verbal over the phone from a pathologist that it was stage lll melanoma, he cut out the cancer on the leg. Oncologist told her you can only get stage lll results from biopsy of lymph nodes that it is probably clark level lll. She will not know for sure until tuesday....long time to wait for that kind of result. Is it possible to get a stage three result from a punch biopsy of a mole or is it only possible to get a level?

Next I had blood in my stools for 2 weeks. The symptoms I have now is tiredness, muscle aches, severe bone aches and a lump in my throat that I have had for about 3 months. In the past I have suffered from reflux, but have not experienced any since the other symptoms have begun.

My 82 year old father has been diagnosed with angiosarcoma. He had a tumor on his ribs that was cancerous. A PET scan showed that there were several lesion throughout his body. After about 2 rounds of chemo (2 weeks on and one week off - twice) the lesions appear to have shrunk. My question is did the chemo just buy him more time or is there a possiblity that he will "beat this cancer?" If it just bought more time could there be any way of knowing if its months or years?
